Of all the cars I've owned and/or played around, my 2008 Fit Sport AT has the coolest temperature running engine. I don't have any numbers but whenever I pop the hood I'm surprised I don't feel more heat. I'll chock it up to a great design by Honda.

the fit does run pretty cool from what i've noticed. however at the same time i find it does become quite hot under the hood. guess it just depends on how you drive.

the fit is very efficient, but if its colder under the hood means your not having enough fun behind the wheel.

One thing, though... like they said if its cool, i means you're not getting maximum power from the engine... also... the air circulation under the hood is extremely poor. The engine will feel like the same temperature an hour later just sitting in a garage also meaning that we loose a bit of power as all our engines are only sucking up hot air... regardless if you have a cai or sri

I think it does run cooler than other engines. From what I've read in the scangauge threads the coolant temp seems to be stable at 173 degrees F iirc. Most engines go in the 190-210 degree range. On my old y8 civic, the service manual says the the t-stat was fully open at 194F, and the fan turns on when coolant is about 200F. That fan would turn on a lot at idle too.

It makes sense, the cooler temp is probably a reason why this engine can run the compression it has on regular fuel on a hot summer day without damage or pulling a lot of timing. I'm convinced it still pulls some though at WOT when it's real hot and dry out.

Truly it kind of sucks right now that it's 15 degrees out. I can drive for half an hour, park for 10 minutes, come back out and when I start it the cold light comes on for another 5 minutes. To boot there's no heat for that time too. Sometimes I miss having a hunk of iron under the hood.

it sucked today... The cold temp light never turned off while the car was idling for like 10 minutes in the parking lot... It was raining, cold, and windy and me and my friends just wanted to spend lunch in a warm car... it didnt happen
