Can anyone help with my trans problem?

i have and 07 fit with manual trans. it only has 42000 miles but the trans is already starting to act up. when shifting out of first at high rpm it wont go into any gear unles i force it in. it just started a week ago but has progressively been getting worse. its almost scary getting on the freeway during rush hour traffic since the fit is sooo slow. i cant floor it. the clutch doesnt slip at all and it only happens coming out of first gear. i tried all the other gears but it works just fine. im wondering if it is an internal trans problem that i can take to the dealer for powertrain warranty. please if anyone knows of this problem that would be appreciated.

It sounds like the clutch to me. If you are still with in the power train warranty, take it in for a diag. and let them tell you exactly what it is.

i havent had the fluid changed... i was just about to change it my next oil change but just started to feel these problems. i dont think its the clutch but im not positive. the reason being wouldnt it do that in every gear??? my buddy has a fit and abuses it more than me and has 88k on it and still has oem clutch. i sceduled an appointment for diag so hopefully it will be covered under powertrain.

It may be that air has gotten into the hydraulic system or it could water changing to steam if the clutch is feeling a little mushy. If it is water to steam, the hot weather and slipping the clutch in 1st while in heavy traffic would make it worse. When you take off in the morning pump the clutch pedal a few times before driving off and see if shifting is good then.

Honda recommends that the automatic transmission fluid be changed every 24,000kms - 30,000kms, and I usually abid by this rule for manual transmission fluid as well. Given you've already driven 42,000 miles, or 67,593 kms, you've already exceeded and have actually driven almost 3x the amount of miles that Honda recommends.

Given that this problem has only started to occur, it would be my best guess that you're running low on transmission fluid, and are currently not getting the lubrication the transmission needs to shift between gears. If it's not that problem, my second guess would be the synchros in the transmission well before I would even consider the OEM Honda clutch being worn out.

Ummm.. Its a manual transmission. According to my manual, AT fluid is supposed to be changed at 60,000 miles and then every 30,000 thereafter.
