AT in drive, shows "4" on dash???

I have the 2007 AT Fit Sport ... the other day I pulled onto the freeway WOT, and then cruising along at 65 mpg immediately ... but the car didn't shift to 5th, and then it showed "4" on the dash as if I were in paddle shifter mode for a couple seconds, and then it shifted to 5th and everything was normal again ...

Has anyone had that? 38K miles, maybe I better take it in for an AT fluid change.

you must have touched the downshift paddle. you can paddle shift while still in drive. i do it all the time.

^^^^ That's what it sounds like to me. Changing transmission fluid on a regular basis is a good thing to do, not changing it wouldn't cause what you experienced. FYI at approximately 60K miles your maintenance minder will code for you to change your transmission fluid.

About a week before it did the same thing hanging onto 4th gear for a looong time but it didn't show "4" on the dash. Both times my foot was really into it. I really doubt that I've started accidentally pulling on the paddles ... as I never use them.

If your foot is into it (flooring it) then you would stay in 4th until you wanted to cruise/settle (5th).

Actually no it stays in 3rd at WOT unless you're over 90 mph ... I guess no one else has encountered this, oh well.

Imagine cruising down the freeway, and the car seems stuck in 4th for no good reason.

the only reason i know for it to do that is if you touched the paddle.. if not, then idk what it is. good luck.
