Left brake light not working (not burnt out...)

So, I'm utterly baffled.

My friend let me know that my left brake light was out at 3pm, when it was still daylight out, and proved it to me. Then, I noticed that that light was working when I lock/unlock and it flashes, and even when I turn on the headlights. But still not for the brake pedal.

So, can anyone help? I assume it must be something wrong with the system between the brake pedal and light, but where? Could it be a fuse? A disconnected wire? A broken contact? Everything electronic on the car is stock except for the dealer-installed iPod link.

If I were still under warranty I would just take it to the dealership and have them do the window panel recall fix at the same time. But alas, I've had my '07 Fit Sport since March '07.

Help? Even if it's not something I can do myself, I would prefer to know what to tell my mechanic to do, and approximately what I'll be charged for the repair.

I think it's a dual filament bulb, and only one filament has burnt out. Try replacing the bulb before doing anything else.

Yep, didn't even realize. Had the bulb sitting in spare part box, and its up and working. Real easy to replace too. Thanks so much for destroying my stupidity. No more fear of silly traffic stops!
