getting a fit soon

been wanting a fit since they came out, cuz everyone here just buys and drives them and leaves them stock. i sold my car last night and got 8500 to play with so hoping to be in a used fit in a week or two, then dress it up nicely. any advice from current fit owners cuz i thought of buying a base and just putting sport parts on it.

I bought a fit sport with 42k miles salvage title but it was rear ended with no frame or suspension damage. All fixed and good to go with a couple goodies on it for $6900. I'm very happy with it. And luckily there are a lot of salvaged fits floating around.

What "sport" parts are you wanting if you get a base? If you only want the lip kit/spoiler or maybe the fogs, I could see getting a base because of the price difference. But if you want all of the above, plus the aux jack, cruise control, etc, etc then just get a sport. Im not sure how much the price difference is between the two used though, so if its a huge difference then get the base lol.

after some looking and pricing i think iam try mike idea and get a salvage one and fix it up cuz i have a few friends that work at body shops that willl give me a good deal, i found a blk 07 with light damage to front for 5,600. cross my fingers and hoping i wont go over budget thinking 7,000 when done and i got 8,000 to play with so want to stay under budget so i can put some rims and other goodies on

i wouldn't get a base at all. If you are looking for the "sport look", get the sport. It also has other amenities the base doesn't. And just my personal reference, i wouldn't get a salvaged car.

I agree with gimme about buying a salvaged car. Too much risk imo.

dont worry about the paddle shifters or cruise u can aftermrket the cuise for cheap and the paddle shifter are a joke on the fit, if u want real paddle shifters rock a gti thats whats up. But used fits are hard 2 find, also don't worry about the aux, most people put aftermarket decks in the fit cause the stock sound is kinda crappy. body kit wise people are always selling parts for cheap but its pretty easy to make a base a sport and alot cheaper in the used car scene. Good luck with the hunt. Also I see people with lowered base on like 16 and it looks so sexy. Also the sport is more common base is rare be different. Dont let people tell u the sport is so much better cause in reality it really isn't, Its the same car with a body kit. Also the base inmo looks better than a sport lowered and with some rims, the gd3's body kit are not that great after looking at them, now the 09-10 are a different story those are NICE sport wise. But in the end just get a fit they are so nice, as long as u know what your getting.
