Best tire size without rubbing?

Hi, I am looking at buying a set of wheels that are 15x7 with a +40mm offset. I am a bit stumped right now and was wondering what tire size could I run without rubbing? I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport at stock height.

ANy help or input appreciated, thank you.

Best bet is 195/50 or 195/55.

That's exactly what I was thinking, 195/50 or 195/55. Does anyone by any chance have any pics of a 07-08 Honda fit running 195/50/15 or 195/55/15 at stock height? Anyone with experience running similar spec 15" wheels with either of the above tire? THanks

I just wanted to update this thread and say that I bought some wheels that were 15x7 with a +40 offset and had 195-55-15 tires on them. I have Progress Lowering Springs installed and with the wheel/tire set up I experience a lot of rubbing during bumps or during random dips during daily driving. I have returned them and am waiting for the same set up but with 195/50/15's to be installed on my car. I'll keep you all updated and if anyone has any of these tires please chime in with your opinions, thanks.

You're rubbing because of your wheel offset.

We have a couple of A/xers who run 195/50x15 on 15x6 rims with 40mm offset stock height and they have no problem with rubbing Those tires are about an inch shorter than stock 195/55x15 tires (23.44 vs 22.67") for better performance. With 205/50x15 on 15x7/40 you will probably have interference. With 15x6/40 wheels you might get away with 205/50x15 but its close. At least one here has.
The outer rim on 15x7/40 wheels are a half inch further out than the 15x6/40 wheel. Even tho the tread width isn't greater for 195 tires the sidewall 'bulges out' about a quarter inch further and can easily come in contact with the fender inner lip.
Additionally, the 15x6 wheel and 195/50 tires are lighter and better for accel and mpg.
