CD stuck in player

My stereo is flashing "bad disc, consult owner's manual" and making a whirring noise. I bought the car used months ago and have never used the CD player but I guess there was a disc in there and it's now stuck.

Pushing the eject button is not working so I'm wondering how to get this out. Any ideas?

Thanks.

if there's a single disc stuck in there and it begins come out but gets stuck or starts making the whirring noise and doesn't eject, take another CD insert on top the CD inside only to press down on the CD already inside the player (DO NOT INSERT THE 2ND CD) This usually frees the CD and it ejects as normal.

Thanks but I"m now thinking there is no disc stuck in there. I tried your method with no luck and so tried putting the new disc completely in. It went in fine and ejected fine. However, without the new disc in there, I"m still getting a whirring noise and a message saying bad disc.

If there was a bad disc in there, would I still be able to insert and inject a second disc with no problem? If not, why all of a sudden would I start getting this error message?

Thanks.
