Replacement Battery
Replacement Battery
I have a bad feeling that my battery is about to crap out on me. This will be my second battery in 45k mi. — the OEM battery and a replacement battery from the dealership.
What is the problem with batteries on the Fit? This thread >>> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...stall-51r.html <<< seems to be saying that a bigger battery is the solution.
The Honda Service Manual calls for a "12V-40Ah/20HR (12V-32Ah/5HR)" battery. I don't even know what that means.
Okay, sportsfans, tell me what I need and where to get it. A DieHard? An Interstate? Go OEM size? Go big size, like in the above thread?
Thanks!

@ Willy: The second battery was a replacement, under warranty, of the first battery. I did not pay for the second battery.
Warranties aside, I am willing to pay out of pocket for an upgraded (better quality) battery that will last longer. The question is: Is there a better battery, or a battery of any kind, available outside of Honda dealerships?

I've tried three or four different size batteries and none of them fit to my liking including the 51r. Sure it did fit the space but it almost touches the intake and I don't like the idea of the engine moving and making contact.
Bosch makes one that's sold through one of the major auto parts chains. I don't recall which retailer it is but the battery is more expensive than the one from Honda and has the same output. As far as Diehard, Everstart, Interstate Ect.. are concerned that would be a no.
XRef of different manufacturers battery numbers for Fit (Jazz) from Australia...

I culled out the Fit information here...

The Bosch number seems to be old as Bosch seems to be 42B19LS instead of 40B19L...

Good News and Bad News, Part 1:
Good News: I went to the Honda dealer on Saturday. With a Honda battery testing device, the Service Writer checked my battery. The device read "Battery Good" and "12.44V" and "330 CCA."
Bad News: I read somewhere on the net (here, I think >>> Ask.com - What's Your Question?) that a battery has to be between 12.5 and 12.8V.
Good News and Bad News, Part 2:
Good News: The local Pep Boys has, as of Saturday, two Bosch batteries in stock for the Fit.
Bad News: They want approx. $128.00.
P.S. @ Blackbeard: Thanks for that info!

You bought a replacement battery at the Honda dealer? How much?
Thanks!
