Help!!! Broke 2 lug stems what can i do???
Ok so appearantly the retard mechanic that worked on my car a the toyota dealership i bought my car from decided to cross thread the hell out of two of the lugs on my passenger side front hub. so when trying to get them off i ended up snapping 2 stems in half inside the lugs. so my simple question is what are my options from this point. Im not gonna drive around on 2 lugs but i would do it slowly and carefully to get her to the shop. the car is safe in the garage for now atleast. can i just put new stems in the hub or what?
Yessir, that is what I would do personally. If you would like a second or third opinion which I always encourage, call an independent shop as well as a Honda Dealer and see what they say.

this happened to me too but don't panic like i did, lol. buy new lug studs at the dealer ($1.95 each), get the fit on stands, take the wheel off, get the rotor off, then punch out the broken studs.
you have a few options at this point: 1) take the hub off and get the new studs pressed in, aka the long route. 2) grind down a portion of the new lug stud heads so you have enough clearance to get the new stud(s) in without damaging the threads. 3) grind down the hub little by little trying to slide the new stud(s) in after each attempt.
i did option 2 and "sucked up" the new studs till everything was tight. option 3 sounds scary and potentially dangerous but i read that technique from kelso who used to have a boosted gd3 and he had no problems at all. if you search for the thread "HELP! torqued a wheel stud out" you'll find my thread with all the info.
good luck
