Hi everybody,

I just bought a Fit so the first thing I want to do is get hooked up at a forum. Not sure if I got a good deal or not but I had to buy something because my ol' work truck was getting awfully tired. I was looking at brand new cars, Scion xd, Ford Fiesta, Toyaota Yaris, or a Rio5's but could not find one that I liked or wanted so I bought a used Fit. That may sound like I ended up with the fit but I'm happy to have it. I work at a Honda motorcycle dealership and have been a Honda fan for years, ergo the username I've had for years.

I may have overpaid. Because I was tired of looking, I just offered them Kelly Blue Book. I bought a Black 2007 Fit that was listed at $14995 for a little over 14k. It's only got 28k miles on it. I hope didn't get [i]too[/] bent over?

So far it's been much fun. It's so tight and responsive compared to my old 1990 nissan work truck that it must have looked like I was drunk at first because I was constantly correcting from left to right. Big difference.

It's just a base model. I bought it, and was looking at the others with mileage in mind. My old crx was a gas sipper and I was surprised to find out that the newer cars don't get much better gas mileage than it did, if at all. I'm still burning off the first tank on this one so the mileage verdict is still out.

So, do you think the price was high? What kind of mileage should I expect? Is there anything I need to watch out for so far as problems inherent to this year/model?

Thanks!

Hi! Got me a 2007 LX Fit at 38k miles for 10 000$ last month so yes I guess it was a bit over priced!

But, what the hell it's a great car, the best i ever had and it's doing 36 MPG on city driving so enjoy!

i just got my 08 fit sport with 59K in an even trade for my 05 RX8 with 70k, bluebook trade in value of about $11,500. i spent two months camping craigslist and autotrader for what i wanted, drove a ton of cars, and negotiated a whole lot to get to that price. i even had to walk out, the dealer called me 10 minutes later and took my offer.

don't worry about it too much, you've got a new car to drive! it all comes down to how much your time and hassle is worth. you could have saved some money, but you would have had to do a lot of leg work and spend a lot of hours. just enjoy the drive.

Did you buy from a private owner? I got mine from a Chevy dealer and bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty with the scheduled service contract. All said and done it was $18k!

But you know what? ...like you said, it's a great car. If it wasn't worth it to me, I would not have bought it. ....I'm an old fart see?, 48yrs old. I wanted to just get it done and not spend days or weeks searching around town for the perfect deal, or doing service and maintenance on things I know nothing about. Hopefully, considering the price I paid, all I'll have to do if I ever have a problem is take it in. ...and maybe people like me that pay too much money for their Fit will help retain the resale value of everybody's Fit! ha. If only.

Thanks for the reply.

Thank You dko. You pretty much nailed it for me. True. True.

..driving to and from has been the highlight of my days for the past week or so. It's like a slot car compared to my truck.

Got it at my local Honda dealer! So no ugly Chevy decal on my Honda! :P

I only have the motor and tranny warrenty.

About the Fit, haters will hate, but lots of friends said to me: "hey Vince, bought yourself a brand new car?!" And I'm like, no it's a 2007!

That has happened more often than not for me so far.

btw, just figured my gas for the first time after running out a half tank.

45.7 MPG!!!!!

Oh yeah.....

I did find out about one thing I don't like, but shouldn't be a big deal.

Yesterday I rolled all the windows down to let all the heat out before leaving from work. Later I rolled the front ones back up and forgot about the back ones. When I got on the freeway, I thought a helicopter was landing on my roof. The buffeting of the wind was very LOUD and capitulating to the point I could feel the hair on my head moving back and forth as it resonated.

ha. Like I said, no big deal as I generally don't drive around with my back windows (only) rolled down.

edit add: Just noticed the pic in your sig. That is a nice looking car.

Thanks!

BTW, I drove my mom's 2004 Civic EX yesterday and it was HORRIBLE!!! Extremely boring to drive! The clutch is weird compare to the Fit!
