Rear Hatch Stuck

I tried to open the rear hatch the other day and it wouldn't open the handle pukked up and stuck in the up possition. Is there a trick to release it? I noticed a cap on the inside of the door and when I remove it, it looks like there is a lever in there. Does it release the latch? which way to I move it? Any help would be great.

Sorry don't know any tricks. Don't know what model you have so if you have a key hole, try that. I don't have one (keyhole). The lever you're talking about is covered in the tailgate section of your manual (page 82 on my '08 Sports). Try moving it either way, to see if the hatch unlocks from the inside. Nothing to lose at this point is there?

It is an 07 Sport with no key hole. I moved the lever both directions, but couldn't tell if it was doing anything. I will have to take another look at it.

Had to read up on it. The lever is only for unlocking the hatch manually if the auto-lock is not working. Up-lever locks. Down-lever unlocks. Good luck!

Sometimes mine gets stuck. I push the unlock button on my remote, and for some reason it will then let me open it. I'm not too sure if this is the problem you are having though. Just a side question though, have any of you had transmission leakage? I have an 07 with 40k miles and already it is leaking.

Locking and unlocking doesn't help any. I pulled the inside panel back and can see that the cable from the handle to the latch is working OK. It just isn't working the latch. I don't even know what to break to get this thing open. Any more advise would be great.

Lift firmly on the handle and push down firmly on the hatch, that might release the latch and open it up.

That was my first instinct. It does move the hatch on the latch, but it doesn't unlatch. I don't guess it was just stuck on something. The latch must be broke. Will a honda dealer be able to get this open.

The bits you need to get to are under the lower trim piece. My guess is the dealer is the only resort. Yours can't be the first, or maybe.....

Try pushing down hard on the hatch and use the remote to unlock. My remote takes two clicks to get the hatch unlocked.
