Need Help

I was backing out from the store the other day and my 07 fit died and would not start. I had it towed to the house and had a friend Mechanic come by and he said he thought it was the fuel pump. So I changed it last night and still will not start. I have checked to make sure it was firing and it is. Any other suggestions? By the way it has 155,000 miles on it. Thanks

Does it crank hard? Is there fuel in the tank [no joke]? CEL lit? Have you pulled OBDII codes?

Not a good idea to throw parts at it until you know the problem.

yes it has half a tank, it cranks like normal, and the check engine light is not on. Any help would be great. I hate taking it to the dealer.

Fuel supply could be the issue, the 07 fuel pump is in the tank, correct? Any chance you replaced the fuel filter as well? Clogged it reduces the fuel pressure.

Coil packs could also be the issue. Any chance of pulling codes?

Yes it is in the tank, wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. Has an access panel under the center console. I did replace the filter when i did the pump. I guess coil packs would be the next thing to try, but if its firing i would think it would at least try and start. Thanks for all the help, keep it coming.

You're correct in if it's firing.
Cranking an engine and it not even trying to fire w/ a new fuel pump and filter means it's most likely an electrical issue.
Cutting out on you like it did points in the same direction.
Intermittent problem the previous days also points that way.

Gathering clues.

Cylinders not even trying to fire.... intermittent issue just before dead.

Spark not getting to the plugs.
Crank sensor kaput possibly???

Really going to need to pull codes.

Coil packs seem the next logical step... Keep us posted.

Just out of curiousity did you check for flow from the fuel pump by disconnecting the fuel line at the injectors and see if you really have fuel flow? (install filter backwards?
Check the spark plugs are actually firing? Check if there is injector signals from the ECU? Could even be the AFM failing to measure incomng air or even blocked inlet air. The OBDII codes are very important to know. SO:

To reinforce other posters: pull the OBDII codes by buying a checker for $50 or so at chain auroparts store. Its your first oder of business.
