How to tell if your key went bad
I just installed a pair of fog lights and now my car won't start. I verified that everything was plugged back in.
I need to know how can you tell if your key has lost its code.

Are you sure you didn't blow a fuse?

I have an inkling the problem isn't with the key. did you install the oem accessory fog lamps or 3rd party?
edit: you should get the car to the dealer/mechanic/autozone/pepboys/etc... and have car scanned for error codes. I'm pretty sure 5 blinks is an error code (or more).

A flashing CEL usually points to an engine misfire condition.
It needs to be checked out as soon as possible and the car not driven more than it takes to do that. Raw fuel is possibly reaching the catalytic converter and if left to do that will destroy it.
No idea if this is your problem, but it does need to be diagnosed.

The cel flashed 5 times then shut off which indicates that the car is missing the emission codes. I unplug the battery and it lost the codes. This link explains it Flashing check engine light - AcuraZine Community
I forgot two plugs. The fog light kit was a oem off ebay. It was all my fault for not reading online how to install them. My kit didn't come with instructions.
