Dome Light Problem(yes i searched first)
So i just recently bought a fit, noticed the dome light was out of commission so i bought a new bulb, which i believe is a 3175 or 3022. replaced it and no luck, i then couldnt find the corresponding bulb fuse so i researched found out it may be #8 under the hood, that didnt work. i ended up switching every backup/light fuse the panel noted. No luck, yes my radio works all lighting including the trunk light, only thing not working is the dome light. any suggestions? thanks alot!
already tried that.....ouch!
since you have tried changing bulbs and fuses.. then that leave the cables or the security/alarm module. My car has the dome light cabling connected to the alarm module, so whnever i activated the alarm, the dome light would turn off immediately, and when i deactivate the alarm, the dome light will turn on immediately... try checking those

Are you referring to the factory alarm? I don't have a aftermarket alarm yet
I left my dome light on over night last night by accident after reading this, car started fine. The light was really hot, and I noticed how dirty the switch was, I should get led but am lazy.

Instead of bulbs, use a multimeter. That way you can see if its dead or putting out 1.3 volts or something. That will give you clues and help you trace the problem back to its source.
My dome light just stopped working recently. Checked the fuses and bulb (put on a 12v lithium camping battery directly), working. Used a multimeter at the bulb, after removing the lens/cover. No voltage. Unscrewed the whole unit (2 Philips screws), then unplugged it. Put the multimeter on the plug, there is voltage. Obviously the dome light unit is faulty. Ordered a new one from Honda. They are on EBay for half the price but they don’t look as good quality in the photos. The one from Honda is without the lens so make sure you don’t damage it. (I looked to see if I could fix the old one but all the metal tracks are hidden under the moulded plastic. I also tried sandpaper and alcohol on the earth screw, you will see one of the two screws is an earth).

Most Honda dome lights use a switched-ground system. At the dome light, you will find a wire with always-on fused power, door-switched ground (via the body control module) and constant ground (which is often one of the mounting screws, threaded into a tab on the roof structure). The constant-ground connection lets the dome light have an "ON" (regardless of what the door is doing) setting, switched ground is for the door-activated position, and no ground connection disables the light for the "OFF" position. Check that each of those connections is doing what it should before replacing the light housing.
