Steering wheel questions

I have an 07 Fit Sport with A/T. I find it difficult to attain a seating position that is comfortable for long trips, and would like to add a spacer to the steering wheel (or hub) to bring it closer to me. If I move the seat forward, the pedal position is uncomfortable. I am also curious about adding a newer steering wheel with BT/audio controls on it (possibly from a newer Si/CRV/Fit/Pilot/whatever). I can sort out the wiring for these controls, but want to know that the airbag wiring will be compatible. Anyone have any input on these questions?

All the hub adapters I've dealt with in the past are designed to go from a splined shaft to a Momo/Personal/Nardi/Grant bolt pattern. I'm wondering how to just extend the splined shaft to work with an OEM wheel.

I didn't do it on my Fit (when I had it) but I have swapped wheels on my Accord. As long as the spline count is the same you should be golden. As for what the spline count on the GD is, I would have to do some research. I think most current wheels share the same spline count and post diameter. To get the wiring to work you'll have to get a clock spring that has the appropriate wiring so that you can get the buttons to work through the connection between the wheel and column. Most newer cars will have a dual stage airbag, and if I remember correctly Honda switched in '00. You can look at the air bag connector and see if it has two wires or four wires. Two is a sinlge stage and four is a dual stage.

As far as your original question, there isn't alot of room but a good machine shop may be your best bet, or even a driveshaft shop that can cut the new splines on a thicker hub.

I hadn't thought about the driveshaft shops... Good answer. Please keep the suggestions coming!
