What type of fuel injector cleaner do you use for your 1st Gen Fit?

I am looking to buy a fuel injector cleaner that won't eventually damage my engine.

What do you recommend, that isn't Seafoam?

Thanks

Hello Tex, Your mix of barryman fuel injection cleaner and marvel mystery oil works really well. My second choice is Redline total fuel injection cleaner.

They both will work. The Redline FI cleaner has a maintenance dose which is very easy to use. There is 10 doses so for the first one I would put in 3 ozs and use 1 oz for every fill up there after.

Thanks for all your help.

Here is a file about the cleaner. http://www.redlineoil.com/content/fi...ech%20Info.pdf

I would also recommend a top tier gas too. Each dose is 1.6 oz and there is lines on the bottle. You should not need to use a full bottle so that is why I said to use about 3 line. Less is better and more should not be needed with a top tier gas.

Techron.

I never use "the cheapest" anything. And I hate Walmart. Even the word.

Dang. I bought Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner SI-1 last night. It says concentrated on the bottle, and no marks for doses.

Sure, but even the cheapest concentrated fuel injector cleaner has effect. Im sure there are brands out there that can charge $25 per tiny bottle and still sell.

For what its worth, my mother has used techron and gumout? fuel cleaner and they make her CRZ run "off". Not crappy. Just different and she notes less mileage while it burns up the cleaner. She never saw positive results, it simply went back to normal.

There are also a few independent tests online with engines on a stand, using an engine dyno. Every single fuel injector cleaner they used, reduced power by a tiny amount while it was ""cleaning"". after gas tank was drained and refilled with fresh fuel, engine dyno numbers stayed in margin of error, 1-3hp. These dynos were done on fuel injected V8s making over 500hp to the crank.

So, it all adds up to one thing. Is the fuel you are running good quality or not? if contaminated fuel, I see no reason NOT to run cleaner every once in a while. Just do NOT do it every tank! maybe one bottle for every oil change or so.

^^Reminds me of a conversation I had with an engineer at Chevron. We were talking about Techron, and I remember him saying that they add it to the fuel mixture, so if you are using Chevron gasoline, you don't even need to use the Techron injector cleaner.

Techron fuel injector cleaner is a good product but it has to be mixed at the correct ratio.

Is she using the whole small bottle in her CRZ at once? If I remember, the 12 ounce bottle is for 12 gallons. I believe there was a truck larger bottle for 20 gallons.

Just wondering if the sluggishness was from too much cleaner.

If you already added the bottle its OK just add more fuel after using a quarter tank. It has the cheapest cost per maintenance dose. The marks are on the side of the bottle each mark is the maintenance dose for 10 gallons. In my opinion its the best.

Chevron sell a few cleaners. One is just a injector cleaner. It should not make the car sluggish but your mpg will be bad when using a cleaner. The next few tanks the mpg will go up from my observations.
