What to expect on a front brake pad replacement

First, yes I could do it myself, but I'm 74 and have a knee that bothers me, so I'll pay some shop to do it.
My 08 AT base Fit is at almost 80k miles, and the pads were down to 2.5 mm last oil change.
The Honda shop where I have had all work done since new, quoted $120 to change just the pads and $180 to change pads and turn the rotors.
Also they quoted $60 to drain and refill the brake fluid, and $150 to do a brake system flush.
Considering the OEM Honda front brake pads are about $50 plus shipping.
Are those prices reasonable?

I guess they are reasonable prices for a dealership. But that's only if they're actually using OEM instead of grabbing off the shelf Duralast and throwing it on there.

Make sure they use the OEM pads.

Depending on your income level, some communities have "car repair" centers that help seniors. The church near-by my home has such a service that operates during part of the week and on Saturday. Maybe in your area?

To change the pads (only)...I would say $60 plus parts would be about right. Brake fluid change...about 30 minutes so maybe another $60 to $80.

That seems about right. When my Honda dealer changed the pads and turned the rotors about six months ago it came to $230 total price. I didn't do the brake system flush because the car only had 51,000 miles. Brakes are something I would want done correctly. The ability to stop is more important to your health than the ability to go.

Finally had the brakes attended to this morning. Front pads changed and brake fluid replaced, along with an oil/filter change and tire rotation. Total cost was $147 at Space Coast Honda, Cocoa Florida.

That's a very reasonable price from the dealership for all that service.

Really good price. I am finding my dealers charges reasonable.

I am pushing 72 so like to leave some of the bending crap to the young ones. I just had my tranny fluid done at dealer yesterday. Well worth the approx $50 labour charge. I would have had to jack it up, drian and dispose of the old fluid. As it was I sat and read my Ebook. In less than an hour I was home.

I was quoted $300 for pads and having my rotors turned! I just changed the pads today, took all of 45 minutes or so. Rotors were fine, so didn't bother messing with them. Id say you got a good deal
