Exclamation Please Help ME!

Hi guys! I'm new here. Just finished registering.

I own a Used Honda Fit 2001 (don't know if base or sport)
GD1-L13A engine
more than 101K miles

I'm having trouble when accelerating.
I guess a "power loss" term will explain everything.

I saw in other threads that it may be because of the mis-adjusted kickdown cable but I can't find them on my car.

- please anyone, tell me what to do.

and can someone tell me, how will I know if the Fit I owned is a FIT Base or Sport?

Thank you so much and very many! ^^,

Welcome! Which country are you located in? It may also be the coil packs. I have no idea what they are but I've read that a lot of people start having problems with them about 100000miles.

Fit came to the NA for the first time in 2007. You most probably have a Honda JAZZ (with a Fit nameplate???). A lot of things, in and out, will be different from our GD and GE versions.

The name FIT was specific for NA as well as Base and Sport models. The rest of the world got JAZZ.

As for trouble shooting, you may want to reach out to FF members who are from other parts of the world. A lot of them are pretty knowledgeable and may provide the technical assistance required.

That said, a performance diagnosis, detached from being physically in-front of any vehicle is not easy. Doing it by "process of elimination" may end up costing big bucks.

Good luck and the FF community is out to help!!!

It says he's from the Phillipines...guys.

A "power loss" is a big symptom of a coil pack going bad.

As for determining whether yours is a Base or Sport. I don't even know if the 2001 model came in different trims, you'll have to put your VIN number in those VIN decoder things and maybe find out.

There's very little documentation or info on the 2001 Fit. It's almost like it didn't exist, lol. But it's probably mechanically identical to later model fits (2003-2005, etc), although I'm not sure.

Would a bad coil pack cause the tach to spike?

It wouldn't. It would however cause minor RPM variations due to misfiring, but it won't spike.

You might want to double check that... In Japan, where it originated, its called the Fit. Oh, and called Fit in China.

There's a wiki section about what its name could've also been.

Some countries don't get direct imports from Honda (or other manufacturers)... Those cars get shipped over via third party "sellers" and dealers. In a few cases, they're stolen imports. So, having the name Fit vs Jazz doesn't amount to much in those countries.

Thanks. While on my phone and on the mobile version of the site there is no information other than the username. No location, post counts, etc.

Correction appreciated. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

But for sure its called the JAZZ in the OP's country. That said, he could have gotten an import from another country.

As far as wikipedia is concerned, they didn't officially get the "Jazz" until 2004, so his had to an import.

I can't swim... Or even float anymore, so me and water don't mix too well.

Agreed, it sucks. I need to take care of this temporary fix of mine too.

It's "sport mode" or something like that. It lets you manually choose gears using the paddles behind the steering wheel. (I believe you can use them in the normal drive mode, too, but in S it won't shift on its own at all unless it must to prevent damage to the engine or transmission.)

You probably have the sport trim or the equivalent wherever the car is from, since it has the 'S' setting on the transmission. Exactly what trim levels are available, what they're named, and what kinds of equipment they come with vary from region to region.

I'm glad you've got your problem fixed! What was the problem? Coil packs?

And yeah like Drew said in the above post, the S stands for 'Sport'. In the US it's available on the the Fit Sport trim with the automatic transmission.

"Sport" sounds cooler but I thought it was for "Sequential"

S stands for Second Gear in most cases.

The sport model has a spoiler on the rear. The base model has no spoiler.
