Talking Did my first valve adjustment

2007 Fit Base
Got this very clean gem a month ago with 100,000 mi, it didn't look as though the valve cover was ever cracked open. I must admit I was a bit intimated with all of the prepping before getting to the meat of things. I broke things down the evening before, then did the valve adjusting the next morning. I am thankful I have a Service manual.

Anyway the work went well(only cut myself three times). I am thankful for this Forum as well, you helped with the "how too" thread. You were right as well with the tendency of the exhaust side to tighten up and the intake side to open up. The exhaust valves were almost no gap at all. I caught just in time.

Many thanks.
Next, tranny oil change(ATF).

Congratulations on jumping in and getting it done! You saved some money in the process too.

How was it taking the intake manifold off?

Intake manifold removal:
Not nearly as hard as I expected. I removed only the upper half(plastic) of the manifold.
1. Air Box (trickey)
2. Throttle body bolts
3. Manifold bolts
4. Coils
5. Plugs
6. V Cover
.......and various wiring connectors and hose connections.

Nice Job

I know I must start working on my fit, it is nearing 95,000 and I hear the valves when I start it, but it goes away, Props for you for admitting you had some fear too & overcame IT!

Me on the hand am fearful of doing this, I don't have the manual as of yet, but I will be getting soon enough , probably next month. Props to you for your posting, cause I need the hope it can be done without taking it to a stealership.

I removed the whole manifold as per the service manual and had to drain and refill the coolant. It was a major pain. It's much easier to simply remove the top half. Now I know...

Only thing stopping me on doing this is setting everything to TDC. That's my fear.

What do you mean? TDC? Top dead center? There is a clear marking on the camshaft/pulley gear so it's real easy to find.

Yes. Putting each piston to top dead centre scares me. I pulled my intake off entirely and my battery out cause it's a 51R to do my coolant and clean my reservoir tank. My only issue will be tdc and that's why I haven't done it yet lol. I've done almost the entire job or well the prep minus the tdc.
