Making OBD2 scanner fit into Fit (pardon the pun!!)

few mounts ago I post a quick thread informing difficulties while connecting my Autel scanner to Fit's OBD-2 port. This was sort of surprise because my old Innova code reader goes in without problems (and I just used Autel on 2006 Toyota Matrix.)
The reason for that was the different male connector pin width; for Honda the pin needs to be 1.5 mm wide (connector on the right) while most cars are accepting 1/16 inch wide pin (1.6 mm)

Innova and Actron scanners are using 1.5 pins.
Few days ago one of my customers ordered an OBD2 male connector from Amazon with correct pins (for $5 total) so I did the swap.

it is strange you had to do anything. OBD2 connectors are universal, as is mandatory by regulation.

You sure it wasnt a bent pin or a damaged connector?

EDIT example, a 1996 accord can work with the same scanner that is, say plugged into a 2014 accord, or 2014 fit.

strange. Maybe most scanners use slightly wider holes.

Ive used a simple scanner bought from autozone on hundreds of cars that come through the shop, never an issue.
