Has anyone here NEVER replaced their coil packs?
2007 Fit, 180,000kms/105,00miles
Plugs have been changed twice, the coil packs never.
Still seem good to me.
The alternator was changed recently.
If you can I recommend that you remove both the alternator and the starter and take them to a specialist for cleaning, verification and repair if needed.
Do it on your schedule when you choose rather than in a rush due to an urgent repair/replacement.
Checking the compression is normally done with all the plugs removed to enable the starter to spin the engine with less effort.
Hold the throttle wide open when cranking.
If you can, disable the injectors too. Find the circuit that powers the injectors and pull the fuse for the test.
Do the test twice: once dry (no oil) and once wet with oil. Get yourself a small manual pump and squirt about 30ml of oil into the cylinder just before testing it.
That will give you a good indicator of the condition of the rings.
Clean around all the plugs before removing them. Make sure that there are no rags dirt etc that could get sucked into a cylinder while testing.
This is an easy job on the Fit as the plugs are easily accessed.
Another test which is very interesting is a leak down test. You have to be able to set the cylinder being tested at TDC, top dead center.
You will need a kit and a stethoscope, to do the test. The results can isolate a bad valve.
It is really neat to be able to hear a leaky valve.
Cheers and good luck.

Rolling up on 195K Miles soon; still running original coils. Plugs and valve adjustments have been done (another valve adjustment soon) last MPG was 31.1 so still getting the same (or better) MPG as when new. 31.1 was on 10% Egas so non-Egas would be better.
Never...
I have NEVER replaced my 12 Fit Sport 5MT with 149000 miles / 239792 km on the odo.
I have recently replaced chirping bird sound with new serpentine belt and new belt tensioner. Still chirps, much less, and pitch changed to more of a clicking sound. My mechanic, stated could need valve adjustment, but he told me in all honesty he would rather not adjust them due to the labor cost of getting to them, (He does not like to ring up big invoices for maintenance, thus avoiding the "sticker shock"). Plus, as many mechanics are loathe to complete time consuming jobs, they would rather replace brakes, starters, alternators, etc. - fast, turn around work. He also is understaffed. He really is a good guy/bloke.
What's the service interval for adjusting valves, anyone?

My guy over here wanted ~$300-$350.
it’s not too strenuous though, if you’re handy and have tools and directions
I think a lot of coil issues can be prevented by regular spark plug replacement, as I've seen spark plug issues start around 17,000 km (10,000 miles). I got a set of NGK coils for my L13A for quite a decent price from ngk.com (based in the US but I believe not owned by NGK Japan; the parts seem to be genuine). Previous owner had used fake Hitachi coils and they only last a few years. I'm hoping the coils will last the remaining life of the car.
I had the coils (Hitachi) and plugs (NGK OEM Iridium) replaced a couple of weeks ago and the stumbling/hesitation appears to be solved. My Fit is now running well again! (This was for a 2007 1.5L with 140k, owned by me since new. Second time replacing plugs.)
coil packs - fuel
265K miles here on original coil packs, no issues. I had a '87 911 Carrera 3.2 and the elders in the Porsche forums asserted that Chevron Supreme with Techron should be the ONLY fuel that goes in my car. I use it in everything I own with a motor. Also a believer in the Denso Iridium TT plugs that Honda recommends. They need to be torqued a bit tighter than spec. I adjust valves and replace plugs and Denso O2 sensors approx. every 70K miles. Use only Mobil1 synthetic oil. My Fit still runs better than new.
181,456 miles on my 2010 Fit Sport Tidewater Blue Metallic. Still on the original plugs and coil packs. No valve adjustments. She runs pretty much the same as when I bought her.
Besides the recall on the axles, the only thing that broke was the serpentine belt. I added AC refrigerant about 3 years ago. On my third set of front brake pads, including the original ones.
Original tires replaced at about 49,000 miles. Then at 106,000. Then at 168,000.
I've filled the Fit up 576 times, total of 5,108 gallons. So my Long Term Average is 35.5 mpg.
YMMV

Averaged 200k per set of coil packs
Just changed my coil packs out for the second time. First time was at 200k. Second time was with 426k on it. I got check engine lights and codes the first time. The second time i got stumbling issues but no lights. I figured they were due again.
i will say with the first set of 4 I got at autozone, i got two bad coils brand new. AZ replaced them under warranty and the replacements held up.
