14 inches wheel, should i get some 15 inches wheel ?
Just bought a GD3 Fit, the wheels that come with it are 14 inches wheels. It will probably need new tires within a few months. It worth getting 15 inches wheel over 14 ?
Well there is if you get a wheel that is lighter. Rota wheels are very light and come in many designs and colors. Lighter wheels= less rotational mass= better low end power getting to the pavement.
Yes very true lighter wheels is a good advantage. Though he could find some 15" or 16" wheels that are as light or lighter the. The 14" wheels.
It's a balancing act between tire cost, mpg, cornering, vibration damping, and aesthetics. Bigger wheels = more expensive tire costs (both in upfront costs and generally longer life for 14" tires compared to those for larger wheels). Narrow tires and a light wheel+tire weight (generally 14" wheels will give you a lighter/narrower weight; not always) will give you better mpg. Bigger wheels = stiffer sidewalls and better cornering. Bigger wheels = less vibration damping (soft 14" sidewalls will soak up the bumps). And most folks like the look of big wheels better. As with anything in life, you can't have it all. Get a wheel/tire setup that improves what you care about.
re:speedo accuracy, read this for an explanation of how to calculate tire outside diameters. Keep your new OD similar to your existing OD.
