07 Fit Keyless Entry

I bought my Fit new in 2006 (base model). I was surprised that it didn't come with keyless entry. I expressed this when they were giving me the keys and they said that they could do it, but it was going to cost X amount of money (hundreds of dollars, but I don't remember the exact amount).

Flash forward to now, where my key literally will not unlock either of my doors. It will start the car, and open the hatch, but both locks are broken. I called the dealership about either getting keyless entry or fixing my locks, and the lady I spoke to told me that keyless entry is installed in the factory and you can't add it after the fact. Is this true? Because I definitely remember the guy who sold me the car saying that it could be done.

They want to charge me $575 to fix the locks ($315 for just the driver's side) and if I'm going to spend that much money, I'd like to just get keyless entry.

Your thread touches on two topics that seem to pop up every other week or so: 1. Keyless entry on your base Fit, 2. Lock cylinders crapping out.

Browsing through the GD forums or searching for "keyless entry" and "locks" should reveal a myriad of answers to your questions. As a teaser, yes, the keyless entry option can be added on after the car left the factory. I too bought my base in May 2006 and added the keyless entry a few years ago.

Well I actually did search first. I did miss this thread (https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...try-parts.html) which is the only relevant one I've found so far, since all of the others refer to later model Fits, which does not help me.

That thread seems to mostly confirm that it's not possible.

How did you get a keyless entry added? An after market place says that my car isn't capable of it (though they were rude and fairly incompetent) and the dealer is telling me that it's not possible, so I'm not really sure where to turn.

The Honda accessory keyless kits are no longer available through the Honda dealers, but if you want to search the web for the kit part number, feel free: 08E60-SLN-100

Aftermarket remote keyless kits are certainly available for just about any car that has power locks.
Even if it didn't have power locks from the factory a kit can usually be made up to do the job.
Sounds like you need to search for a qualified installer.

I bought the OEM part a few years ago. All that was required was to plug in some plugs and insert an extra fuse in the interior fuse box. It took about an hour or so because I couldn't find one of the harnesses that I was supposed to plug something into.

The kits are still available, you just have to look around for them. It is also something that you can do yourself because if I can do it, anyone can do it. I also failed to previously mention that I have a USDM 2007 base.

The lock cylinders are a known issue, much like the coil packs crapping out. There are a few solutions on the site of how to rectify the locks. One is having a locksmith rekey the cylinder or another is what you're trying to do by adding a keyless entry system. Also note, keyless entry =/= alarm system. That is also available and requires the keyless entry system first.
