Cool Dome does not light - different problem

HI,
I have a variant on the old (and boring) dome light problems.

In my 2007 Sport, the dome light works fine if you switch it to "ON" with the ceiling switch. If, however, you put it into the center position, which is supposed to be door enabled, it does not come on when any door is opened.
Neither does it light when I unlock the door with the radio button.
To add to the list of clues, the switch that senses that the door is open appears to work correctly because it will register on the dashboard as open and closed if I manually depress that switch.
Further I have replaced the entire ceiling unit, thinking that the switch on it was bad to no avail.
In addition I have looked at the "backup" and "light" fuses both inside the passenger compartment and under the hood.
I do not have any after market gear in the car whatsoever and have not done anything like tearing apart the dashboard.
I'm really hoping that I'm just a moron (that's the cheapest solution) but I'm beginning to wonder if there is some digital processing unit involved.
Anyone have a clue?
Thanks,
Manning

In addition I have looked at the "backup" and "light" fuses
Fuse #8, engine compartment box
Fuse #3, dash box
I'm beginning to wonder if there is some digital processing unit involved.
Wire diagram shows door switches lead to gauge module which controls the dome light.

Much wiring passes through the dash fuse box but it does not look like any dome light controls are in that unit.

HTH

Great, maybe I missed something. I've already investigated #8 under the hood. BTW the 2007 manual shows that the numbering kind of jumps around in that area so I've checked ALL of the fuses in the outside fuse box.
I have not looked at Number 3 in the interior fuse box. The owners manual lists it as "IG METER". I'll check it out in the morning. Thanks.

Nope, Not the #3 fuse either. I read something about the difference between the door lamp and the ceiling function is the resistance and that a HONDA bulb might make the difference. This seems like BS to me but I'm running out of options!

If you have a wiring diagram and know how to use it, you could yank out the gauge module and test more from there.

Thanks ezone. I just stumbled on this, I don't know why the search did not offer it before.
