P2647 Car power retarded
P2647 Car power retarded
For a year now I've had trouble with the P2647 code on my wife's 2008 honda fit. For a while it made the idling rough, and had difficulty accelerating at high speeds. After some research, I concluded the engine coils needed changing. I changed them, and it helped the car a lot. The car ran perfect for approximately 6 months.
Now the same code is being thrown, with the same symptoms, just not as severe. I periodically reset the code, and the symptoms go away.
However, when the code is reset, sometimes the car will shut off completely for less than a second, and then come back on immediately. The car loses power, the radio lights go off and everything for just a flash, less than a second. Then the car comes on by itself immediately. This doesn't happen often but seems to only happen when the code is reset.
The oil level in the car is good, and we just changed the oil not long ago. I'm not sure what to do next, and I don't understand why the symptoms leave when I reset the code..
Thanks for the help.

That code indicates a problem with the VTEC oil pressure control solenoid.

That sounds a lot like a bad ground, or even something as goofy-simple as loose battery terminals. I'd check them first just so you're not chasing your tail.
EDIT: As a side note, I'd love if some bro-grammer at Honda stuck a code like this in there for when the car detects you've added a turbocharger to give your car crazy-high power compared to stock. "CAR POWER LEVEL: RETARDED- WEAR SEATBELT AND HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTT"
