Also, just for kicks, check the condition of the outer tie rod end boots. I've found the rubber deteriorating on mine
Good advice on the tie rod end boots. May be a good idea to get it up and check all of the bushings/boots/mounts. Anything rubber may be deteriorated.

I had listed Tie rod ends at the beginning. I am assuming that's the same thing?

Also instead of examining and adjusting the drive belt, I went ahead and just replaced it and the pulley too.

And the car looks like it was maintained for the most part. Took the air filter off and it looked like it would do another 40k. I replaced anyways.

Disk Hi all,
about to do the same big service to my 07 MT. Can you kindly remind me if "she" can mount 262mm front discs, beside the standard 258mm?

TIA,

The idle speed is just a tiny bit off right now imho. I don't think it's anything though. It was idling a little better before the new plugs and ignition coils though.

Well got everything done that was on the list and the mechanic was pleased to see this stuff done too. The only thing not done was the valves. Seemed like quite a few mechanics was kinda talking me out of it really. As long as things weren't noisy. Yeah a valve could be tight, but that would probably show up after putting a few miles on the car with the MPG. My bet is that they are fine.

I'm really glad I got the belt and the tension pulley dealt with. Both of the items were a bit ragged.

Thanks for everyone's help with this issue.

.........................oh yeah, the car seems to be running quite nice now.

Nice!

If they didn't do it at the shop, I recommend leaving the battery negative side cable disconnected overnight. It will force the ECU to relearn and your idle may improve.

Just make sure you have the radio code to put in after reconnecting the power.

Cough, cough................... it's a bit too late for the radio code. I didn't bother getting the code cause I didn't know I needed it. I just thought I didn't know how to turn the radio on, plus I was dealing with other more pressing issues. Now I'm not interested in contacting the previous owner, so on my own on this.

I'll post up a different thread on this radio issue.

Seems like you're just asking for trouble. Even the manual saying, "Adjust the valves only if they are noisy.", page 173. Seems the same could be followed for the spark plugs too. Why mess with them if there's no problem? I've only burned about a half tank so far and it looks like I'll be able to easily get 40 mpg or better. I'm assuming that when it's a half tank showing, there's half the tank gone.
Honda is full of crap on this one, the fit engine is a hard tappet design, no auto adjust, its the grandson of the CVCC civic engine and it needed the valves adjusted every other oil change, Honda just doesn't want to admit it.. Same issue on their bikes and many have found out the hard way that its a needed task.. Adjust the valves at about 70K intervals and you have a nice tight smooth running engine..
