Looking to buy a 08 Sport...Question about Paint?

I looked at a 2008 Sport the other day. It was in pretty good condition and drove excellent. The Carfax is clean but I noticed the gloss on the paint gradually went from shiny to satin beginning about halfway up the side of the car. The luster of the roof was completely different than the bottom half of the car. Is this just from age, standard Honda paint job or a sign the car has been resprayed?

Both: side has been re-painted and original roof clear coat started to dull. Typical scenario someone scratches the car with pece of glass but owner does not carry comp. insurance. So he just takers it to cheap painting shop for repair

If you're in a sunny climate & the car is parked outside it is absolutely possible the clearcoat has failed on the horizontal surfaces (roof/hood/etc.) and is stilly shiny on the vertical surfaces.

You didn’t mention what colour but if the base (colour) coat is intact, you could scuff the area with a scuffing pad and just reapply clear coat. Luckily, the fit has a hard line about half way up the door so if you want you could respray only the upper portion and wet sand and buff to blend. I used the technique of back masking and it worked perfectly and to my eyes, the blend is near perfect (metallic colours are hard to blend).

you must buy the top quality 2k clear coat. I got some in an aerosol can and the results were excellent. For professional looking results, wetsanding and buffing is required. Ideally, you should paint in a garage (not outside).

i recommend buying one extra can than you need. My paint shop lets me return unused cans (since the bottom must be cracked and shaken before use). You don’t wanna be stuck running out of paint half way through your application. I did about 4-5 coats of clear
