Exclamation Head Unit help, Clarion with Metra kit... [solved]

Was starting to put together the stuff tonight...

I think these screws are too small to fit the clarion.. did anyone run into these problems? This is the right location and the right place to screw this on right?

and also this one is for single din only right? so i can trash it:

and also... am i missing something? ordering from Crutchfield should have supplied everything i needed for an install right? do i need to order a bracket or something? i haven't opened up the car yet so i have yet to find out how it will fit inside.

EDIT: after relooking at it.. i think it does go there.. i mean i can easily go to the hardware store and buy screws long enough for it to fit... BUT another problem is arising is that isn't it going too fat to fit? did anyone use these things successfully? cuz i think mine are too fat. this is becoming a bit of a nightmare...

I'm sorry dude. I never used the metra kit due to color variations. I ordered the OEM navi FIT kit. Not familiar with the plastics your holding. I would recommend though not to grind anything as of yet. Search the forum first. Good luck!

yea thats the right place to put the bracket, but how you were holding the bracket is upside down. i managed to get the screws to work on my pioneer, so maybe try again? if not just go to lowes / home depot, you should be able to find it there.

correct, the other bracket is for the single din

thats exactly what i did with my kit
just a heads up, the fit and finish of the metra is decent. it's not the same color as the glovebox, and it rattles when it's hot.

looking at it again you have it the right way in the first pic. don't shave down that ledge, you need it for the headunit to slide and stay in place. you'll see once you attach it to the outer silver piece.

silver piece meaning the faceplate.
you might have the brackets switched around, because there's supposed to be an alignment tab that slides into the faceplate from the bracket.

theres 2 peices on each of the plates... i was goign to grind the tall one, to the size of the short one, because the tall on is catching on the faceplate and as hard as i mash it in.. i won't go in the faceplate.

this is what iam talking about and the situation iam in:
Name: IMG_0531.jpg
Views: 221

Name: IMG_0533.jpg
Views: 182
Size: 60.5 KB

so i was going to cut this one, the one in red:
Name: IMG_0533edit.jpg
Views: 166
Size: 61.1 KB

which leaves the one in green, which will end up catching the faceplate to leave it in place.. but nothing locks or anything.. its just like a stopper right?

OH i know exactly what you did wrong. you're supposed to install the brackets first, then screw in the headunit. the ridge on the faceplate is supposed to fit in the ledges of the bracket.
sorry that i've been a bit confusing, it's been awhile since i installed my headunit.
