Problems locking car with remote

So on 2 occasions as of late my remote key won't lock and arm the security on my fit.

Today I did a little bit of research. First thing to do was open and shut all the doors. I did this a couple of times til I was able to kind of narrow it down to the rear hatch being the issue. I can't consistently get it to lock but if I open and shut the hatch a couple of times I can usually get it to lock and arm the security.

First, where is the sensor between the hatch and the body?

Secondly I also noticed the hatch auto lock mechanism isn't working anymore. Is this common? I know the doors are notorious for it. Curious if its possibly an issue outside of the mechanism. I know bad ones are known to make noises. I hear no noise.

Don't really know much about the subject area, but the first thing I would do is the check the fuses and key battery.

The key battery is fine because it unlocks just fine and I don't think there is a separate fuse just for the rear hatch .

Thanks for the post.

I don't see anything specific to the rear tail gate though.

The doors lock just not the rear hatch (or unlock) so probably a bad actuator.

The sensor for the rear hatch seems to be the issue but im not sure where that's located.

Hey man I really appreciate it!

Found a replacement motor for the rear hatch actuator lock for 10 bucks. The locks worked fine today but yesterday I came out to a car alarm sounding off and today my coworker said he heard it going off in the parking lot shorltly after I left it.

In theory, the rear hatch lock mechanism should be fixed by the end of the weekend but seems like whatever sensor is back there for security is the reason it's randomly not locking the doors or setting off the alarm. I could be wrong.

I also ordered a new battery for the remote just to eliminate any possible outcome. Will be resetting the ecu/car after doing this by removing the negative terminal.

Super random issue but appreciate you looking out.
