lifespan of a 2nd generation fit?

All good stuff!
I'd like to recommend an oil high in zinc and or molybdenum also. It should stick to the metal like a nice thin slime, helping to ensure its well lubed when you do start it. Oh, and be sure to use the factory spec viscosity. If you deviate, let it be on the high temp end like 0w30 or 40 depending on your climate. Wouldnt want to impede cold starting by changing the 0 to a 5, 10 or 15.
If you can, try and give it a run on the freeway once a week. Pulley wheels, water pump, things that spin can just get weird if they dont move. Perhaps the grease in the bearings gathers dust and turns from goop into gunk. Uh.. water pump excluded from that theory.

Good ideas - thanks
All the maintenance items listed by Honda in the manual have been done with all the fluids replaced before the mileage required it - anti-freeze and brake fluid don't last eight or nine years. The suggestion about the accessory belt is a good one and one I wouldn't think about. Obrigado, Fiting. It gets washed about once a week and they do the undercarriage flush about once a month. That's one more thing (of many) that I'm really happy about with this car: zero visible rust when it's up on the lift.
About the oil. I've used Mobil 1 synthetic since the first oil change. I've read/seen the recommendation re: oils high in zinc and molybdenum for collector cars and for that reason; infrequent use. Do you think the conventional oil with the additives is better than synthetic? It never sits for more than two or three days unless we're on vacation but when it's used during the week it's never for more than a grocery run or to the movies - five or ten miles max. If it gets a workout, it's 40-50 highway miles on the weekends, so I'm on track there.
Thanks for the good ideas. With luck it'll last another ten years.

I would stick with Mobil 1 since that's what it's always had, but use the Extended Performance version for the better additives package.

A base 5 full synthetic is always best but the Mobile One you are using is all the Fit needs (the extended performance like GA recommended is nice with the extra additives). I don't think there is a need to run a high level full synthetic in it.
