How Long ?

Ok, I know most everything depends on maintenance etc but I just bought a very nice one owner 09 Sport with 85k miles. What kind of miles can I expect to put on her, and should I be concerned about a timing belt or chain going on me? Thanks

Expect to do what Honda calls a 4 service around 105k. That's your spark plugs, valve adjustment *highly recommended as these cars tend to run tight* and drive belts. There is no timing belt, it's a chain. Unless it stretches, it shouldn't need to be replaced. Otherwise, just normal oil changes and brake services should see you with plenty of miles to go. In Honda terms, your car is barely broken in. There is a thread around of a Fit with over 700k!!

I feel like if the timing chain is stretching, or breaks, there's something else that's significantly wrong with the car first. I have a 2010 Sport with about 170k on it, and it's still going strong. Just usual maintenance.
