Refurbished OEM Wheel

Anyone have any luck with a refurbished wheel for a 2010 Fit Sport? I don't want to buy a new one from the dealer (something like $450), and I haven't seen one come up locally for sale. EBay has listings that say "refurbished", but I don't know if it's cosmetic stuff like curb rash or something like a welded up crack.

Thanks

Similar generation Civic wheels fit as well. They're a tiny bit smaller but still look right and more importantly they're everywhere.

For a similar price you could get a whole set there, hoss. The stock sport wheels are heavy and could do with a width increase anyways. 15 or 16" x 6.5 or 7" are where it's at. I love my sparco set, and they were only around 130 a piece. Increased stability, road manners, wet traction, stopping distance. If you're bound to your choice, there's ebay, local tire shops (since so many people put on aftermarket wheels, the shops often recycle or resell the old ones if they're in good condition). I know discount tire at it's regional hubs centralizes their wheel collection from customers, bringing in and throwing out new stock monday through friday, 7-4. You'd either call and talk to the corporate receptionist, or look for an open bay door out back.. at any given day they probably had 60 sets of stock whatevers..

For purpose of your search the wheels you want have a 4x100 bolt pattern and a +42mm offset.

You could also try the buying and selling section on this forum and post up a request.

We have a local company (Lancaster, PA area) that has mobile road crews that will come to you but I delivered my 2009 CIVIC OEM wheels, TPMS sensors in them, and a new set (4) tires. They removed everything in a vibrating tub cleaner. They painted the gray base / background coat, then machined off the gray on the high surfaces then clear-coated. Installed the TPMS sensors, put on the new tires, and balanced. I didn't have any curb rash or chunks knocked out of the wheels but the wheels wouldn't keep a good seal on the bead due to road salt corrosion. Lost air quickly and wire brushing the inside edge of the rim was no help. It was $145 / wheel.

If you're considering buying a refurbished wheel, you're better off checking in your local area for a wheel refinishing business and have your own wheel refinished (if it's repairable). Those refinish shops will make the wheel spin true again, refinish any imperfections in it, and will then either paint or clear powdercoat the wheel. At least you know the history of your own wheel.

If you can't find a wheel refinishing shop in your area, check with a local body shop and find out who they use when they have a damaged aluminum wheel on a car that they're repairing. In our area we have a shop like this in the next town east of us. That wheel repair shop will pick up a damaged wheel and then deliver the repaired wheel back to the body shop.
