Wheel covers (needed?)

Hey all,

Getting ready to switch the winters over from alloys... A local mechanic said I needed to use the stock wheel covers with my GE13, or the lug nuts would loosen with the snow/ice. Is there any truth to that, or can I just stick with the stock steelies and ditch the wheel covers? I'd rather leave them off if it doesn't make a difference, not too fussy about wheel covers, especially the stock ones that came with the car.

Cheers,

M

Maybe?

Maybe a good idea to stop the wheel studs / nuts corroding with the salt?

I have a base 2010 5mt with 15" steelies. I actually got 14" steelies with winter tires off tirerack about 2 years ago for I think$500 total. I don't have wheel covers on them and have no issues at all. Switching to the 14" does give a softer ride and I'm not sure if it's the winter tires, the larger sidewall, or a combination of both, but handling is definitely much more mushy.

Don't need them. They are just for looks.
Been running my 05 Accord on steelies every winter since day 1!
