2011 Honda Fit does not start after engine replacement

We just switched the engine for 2011 Honda Fit with automatic transmission. The only thing that was replaced was the engine block. All computer stuff, ECU, ECM RCM and accessories are original. The battery was out for almost a month and when we assembled the engine back and installed it in the car, it did not start, was just cranking. We tried to pour some engine starting fluid and the engine started and ran until the fluid was burning. So there is a spark and ignition, but no fuel going through the fuel injectors. We checked out the fuel pressure in the line and it was good, so the pump worked. The place where there was a problem appeared to be the power to fuel injectors. Tested it with NOID tester and there was no pulse. Since going through the whole wiring harness and testing power on every element in line from battery and bunch of control modules is way above my expertise level, took it to the honda mechanic and they said the problem could be with immobilizer unit. according to them it lost the communication with the key and the key??? needs to be reprogrammed.
My question is, how reasonable is this? and the next one, if it is not an immobilizer, what else could cause no signal in the fuel injectors.
Thank you

The green key light appears for a half a sec and then goes off. That was the reason why mechanic said immobilizer does not communicate with the key

I'm thinking it has to be a loose connector.

mechanic was right. The problem was with the lost link between the key and the immobilizer. After recording the key the engine started and is running well. Now I need to check the leak in the water pump and will be done .
