Replacing the spare "donut" tire with a full size tire

Hello folks! I'm new to the forum and was wondering. I just bought my first Honda and it's a 2012 honda fit manual. Has anyone tried to fit a full sized tire in the spare tire storage area? I was thinking I would be more comfortable with a full sized tire as opposed to the little donut. I was planning on buying a spare wheel from a fit off a junk yard.

(I know the answer is to take one of my tires off and try it out. But it's February in the midwest and still quite wet and cold out).

Thank you!

Isnt going to fit with the OEM trunk floor. You could make your own, I guess

You sure can. But you will have to keep it in the rear hatch area and not in the stock location. Be careful though, because if you get in a forward accident that heavy wheel/tire will go flying forward and take you and any passengers out.

the regular size tire will fit into the spare tire location. And the trunk cover will close without any problem.

2010 Honda Fit Sport. Last year, I replaced my doughnut tire with a full size spare. OEM wheel from Ebay and a 205/50 Continental DWS that I had saved when I got my last set of tires put on. It did fit in the well (circumference wise), but it does sit about 2" higher than the donut did, so the floor wasn't flat. I put some wood pieces on the left and right sides of the spare to make the floor sit level. You can use the added space under the raised floor to hide a few things. Worked out well, glad I did it.

On the gk at least, there''s little space to spare if the foam trunk organizer is removed and replaced with something to even out the edges
