Doors keep locking over and over
Doors keep locking over and over
Hey guys and girls,
I have an 09 Fit Sport...lately when I lock the doors, with the lock button on my key or when I put it in to drive, the doors will lock repeatedly...sometimes two or three times, sometimes more than a dozen times. Sometimes I just walk away and its still locking.
I've also heard random locking while I'm driving...even once or twice when I put the windows down from the drivers seat. Sounds like all the doors are locking.
Should I be replacing my driver's door switch assembly or the door lock actuator. I'm not sure which to try replacing first.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Did'ja perhaps let some rain water in onto the controls? My driver's window did this the other day when I left the car in the negligent hands of my dear friend to take our dog into the vet. She didn't roll them up, and it was raining. That dried up rather quickly, but a more severe soaking might have left me in a bit of trouble!
I'd be surprised to think that the fault was with the actuator.. It wouldn't be my first guess, I would say, mostly because of risk of moisture and such. Although I'm a bit worn out from today I'd like to suggest finding a way to test the actuator by jumping power to it independent of the switch! Maybe there's a youtube video that could demonstrate such a thing. I hate replacing actuators, I really do. So cramped in there.

To me, that sounds more like a door lock actuator issue just by reading your description. Mind you, I'm not completely ignoring that there could be an issue with the door lock switch (or wiring or other X factors) but I've rarely seen them fail on second gen Fits so far.
When door lock actuators begin to fail, they start showing some really odd characteristics. Some may simply buzz, some may self command themselves to lock (like the early 3rd gen CR-Vs), some may do fail once every 5 lock cycles or once every 3 months, etc. If the driver's door is beginning to fail, it will control ALL doors/hatch/trunk in terms of locking/unlocking if it is having a fault causing a self command issue.
Try at your own risk, I will not be accountable for any mishaps.
I'll openly admit, my memory is a little spotty on how the wiring is for the second gen for the door lock system BUT... What I would do is to open the door, take a screw driver and latch the door lock actuator in the closed position then while pressing the door switch on the body of the vehicle (black rubber tab/sensor on body of car that door presses against) cycle between lock and unlock every 3 to 5 seconds in attempt to get the door lock system to act up. Once it acts up, remove the door panel and disconnect the door lock actuator's connector. (**Part that I don't entirely remember**) Once that is done, ensure that the door lock switch is reconnected then retest by cycling between lock/unlock. If you can cycle between lock/unlock commands without any issues then you likely have either a faulty door lock actuator and/or an issue somewhere in the wiring of the vehicle.
Best of luck if you choose to self diagnose your concern. =)

But people who come over to the house are always surprised. More than once someone has tried to open the door themselves to realize its locked and they get this puzzled look on their faces. Or when I go to their house and they just yell "Come in!" I'm always thinking to myself "You just leave your door unlocked like that?"
