Hitch loose at connection point

A few years back I installed a hitch on my 13 Fit. Installation went well. I got it from Etrailers.
My Fit is a manual transmission. I tow a small utility trailer rarely, but mostly I use it for a bike rack. Lately Ive noticed some fore aft rocking movement when I'm driving. Its secure in its bolt holes. And a squeak. I've gotten under the car and checked all my bolts. Everything is tight as it should be. BUT...where the forward most connector is bolted to the car body, it seems that section has loosened by either metal fatigue, or possible a factory weld coming loose.

This is a hand drawing. It's that long extension that goes forward. I'm wondering if I can go to a good welding shop and have that spot reinforced.
Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Was there a stabilizing strap included with the bike rack?
Just wondering because some require it to keep the hitch from working side to side.

there is a side to side “strap” there. Considering the leverage a hitch mounted bike rack can exert, its kind of flimsy.
I didn’t know it’s purpose. I thought maybe it had something to do with placing the nuts.
the area where that long fire/aft bar terminates is directly under the center of the spare tire

I believe it's purpose is to keep the sideways motion in check. That motion will loosen nuts easily.
Try tightening the nuts and using the strap. Should fix the problem.

I'd suggest finding the place where the actual problem i.e. crack is. Then it is easier to make right decisions about how to fix it.

I'm unfamiliar with your type of hitch...I just posted yesterday about the Draw-Tite brand and it uses just four holes in the frame for mounting.

The thin straps that you show in the pic... are used to locate the front attachment...I think. (some trim the ends off after installation. (Might be good that yours aren't..if you have to remove it and re-install)

The strap I was mentioning, is used only when using the bike hitch. It's attached one end to the bike carrier and the other to the car.
If you didn't get one of those...your carrier doesn't require one.

I would loosen all the bolts and see if you can spot anything that doesn't look good...esp under the front bolts.

Why not contact etrailer directly and ask for their counsel? Alternatively, there may be a local towing store that can reinstall or otherwise advise.
