Not safe for bushings when resting car on jack stands?

Hey folks, I was wondering how long we could safely rest our vehicle on jack stands, and found this website. It's a thread from 2007 for an old corvette forum. They were saying that when the vehicle is suspended in the air, but resting on the jack stands, the bushings could get damaged.

Is this something to be concerned about if I leave my fit on my jack stands for hours, days, or weeks? Thanks!

P.S: Thread title is supposed to be "Not safe for bushings when resting car on jack stands? I don't know how to edit the title.

Wouldn’t worry about it if it’s only hours or days, that’s a typical shop repair job.

Weeks to months, might be an issue. At that point, it might be better to set it low enough that the tires rest on the ground and the shocks and struts aren’t fully extended.

I saw your other post about taking the rotor off, so if you can’t mount the wheel back on, use a couple of blocks of wood or something under the axle to the same effect.

I just pull all 4 wheels off if it's going to be suspended long term. That way there's less weight pulling down on the a-arm, struts, etc.

Thanks. I was thinking: is it OK to completely remove the caliper and bracket (for cleaning) and put the wheels back on, and torque the lug nuts, without the caliper and bracket on? Just for the purpose of not letting the suspension dangle in the air.

You run the risk of someone, including yourself, putting the vehicle on ground and trying to drive it... forgetting about the missing caliper and bracket?

True. No one will be driving it though.

I will excommunicate anyone who does.
