10 yr cost of ownership, 2010 Fit Sport

Having crossed the 10-year ownership mark a few months ago, I thought I would compile my 10 year cost of ownership experience. And, get this, I DID ALL THE SERVICE AT THE DEALER. Yes, yes, I know, I'm a fool. Looking at the entire file now, I can see there are a few unnecessary transmission fluid changes, and so many air and pollen filters I could have done myself. :-) But I hope this gives those of you who DIY a warm, satisfied feeling inside. ;-)

2010 Fit Sport, AT, 60k miles, located in San Francisco, serviced at SF Honda. All it's ever needed is maintenance, and here's all I've had done:
6900 miles: Maintenance "A" (oil change) service: $62
12700 miles: Maintenance "B123" (oil change, air cleaner/filter , transmission fluid, brake fluid, alignment) service: $677
20000 miles: Maintenance "A" (oil change, rotate tires) service: $72
26600 miles: Maintenance "B12" (oil change, rotate tires, air cleaner/filter) service: $280
30000 miles: Maintenance "A3" (oil change, transmission fluid, brake fluid, rotate tires), TPMS sensor (right rear): $635
36700 miles: Maintenance "B2" (alignment, oil change, air cleaner/filter, wiper inserts, airbag recall): $440
40700 miles: Brake pads, rotors, fluids, TPMS sensor (left rear), air cleaner/filter: $1,003
44200 miles: Maintenance "A2" (oil change, air cleaner/filter): $192
49100 miles: New battery: $143
50100 miles: Maintenance "B" (various submenu items, including serpentine, transmission fluid, spark plugs, valve adjust): $1443
54300 miles: Oil change: $55
56000 miles: Rear taillight bulbs: $22
59500 miles: Maintenance "B1" plus "60k major service" (oil change, air/pollen filters, trans fluid, brake fluid): $629

Total cost: $5,653, or an average of $565/year
Depreciation: ~$10,000, or an average of $1,000/year

Pretty great, all in all! Here's to the next 10 years of ownership!

We have a 2011 Fit Sport with about 80k miles. About $7,000 in maintenance.

Purchased used 2 years ago with 65,000 miles from original owner. She did about $5,000 in maintenance, mostly from dealer. Frankly, original owner performed excessive maintenance beyond the Honda schedule.

Additional maintenance in last 2 years included: broken front axle, 6 new tires, oil changes (DIY blower fan & resistor, air filters, spark plugs).

My 09 going into 12th year. It has been serviced by my dealer. Only about 50,000 miles. It only got one service beyond the usual once a year oil and filter. The brake and tranny fluids change as per manual. Front rotors and pads once .My only complaint is battery. I have replaced a few times. I have a parasitic draw I cannot find. I will have a dead battery after sitting for 3 or 4 days, especially in winter. Other than that NO repairs other than the self-inflicted.

Self inflicted Well. Wrong thread on a lugnut caused me to go to dealer to replace stud.. Worst was last week. I was at Honda for annual O nd F. They told me springs collapsed. Well over 2 Grand to replace. I took it to my friendly Dodge dealer for second opinion. Yup one of my Swifts had rusted and broke damaging the strut. Other strut not much better. So they replaced both along with axles which were damaged by running at different angle for 10 yrs. Cost me $2,200. Rather than buying extended wty I had set up a Fit expense savings account. There was plenty in there to pay repairs. Now |I have a nice ride.
I plan on keeping driving it.
