CV axle recall...
Just bought a 2009 and have since learned of CV axles snapping in Northeast. I'm the third owner, would I be eligible for the repairs by honda under the recall? Any tips on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I also just bought a 2012 GE8, It's a safety recall you're 100% eligible.
You just need to bring it in to a Honda dealer.
The question is: WHEN....?????
Anytime or... when you get a letter? IF you get a letter.. THAT is the question.

The information on this recall was covered in a post here in Dec. 2020. Recall notices for affected cars will be mailed out by the end of February 2021. If you're a new owner of a Gen1 or Gen2 Fit, it wouldn't hurt to contact your local Honda dealer by the end of February if you haven't received a recall notice by then to make sure you weren't overlooked. Here's the link for the earlier post regarding the axle recall:

Newby to the forum. Yesterday I bought a 2009 Fit, Milano Red, 202000, Auto. Ordered Roadmaster Baseplate system to hook up to 28' motorhome. Love the paddle shifters.
I saw the drive shaft recall when I ran a Carfax and I called Honda in Leesburg Florida. I was told the parts are not in yet but I was the first to call and they put me on their list to be called. I do not know about other dealers but it seems like a good idea to call your local dealer and get on their list. The car spent its first 4 years in the St. Louis area and then moved to Florida and seems to be in great shape.
I am interested in hearing from others that have set their Fit up for towing behind a motorhome. I plan on installing the Baseplate and wiring myself and using a "Brake Buddy" that came with the motorhome. I will also run 12 V to the car battery to keep it charged while towing.
Sorry about getting off-topic for this tread.

Nice! Glad your dealership took care of you. Were they able to replace same day? What they check Iin order to qualify for the replacement? Alignment necessary after repair? Thank you

They did an inspection to see if there was any rust, and then the advisor came to tell me some of the other things they think should be done, since they don't have history on it. I declined as I have a good history, but was interested what they would charge for a valve adjustment, $569. I said thanks, I will think about it, and then he said they were taking care of the recall.
I thought i was just getting the inspection and would need to make an appointment for the work.
It took 3 hours, and that was with a car wash, lol
No alignment needed, pretty sure you only need to unbolt the ball joint to complete the axle swap from what I've seen.

Did the recall AND a car wash? Lol. I have 3 Hondas. And never received that kind of treatment here in NYC. My 09 only has 56k miles. I looked at the axles yesterday and they sure have rust on them. Hope they don’t give me any problem to replace the axles.
