Question UV and/or dry rotted window trim.

Hello All,

I have a 2010 Fit Sport MT with ~138,000 Miles and just noticed these trim pieces on my door panels.

Has anyone had to replaced these dry rotted and/or UV damaged wiondow trim pieces. The only option I saw online is to replace the whole door panel and I think that is ridiculous.

Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

This is the best Trim piece on my door. (FL Door)

This on has fallen between the door and window. (FR Door)

You can really see that sun damage and/or dry rot on this piece. (RR Door)

That is the front and rear "door glass outer weatherstrip." Pgs 20-17 and 20-31 in the 2009-2012 Honda Fit Service Manual.

I am 99% positive you can get this piece from Honda, although I do not know the part number. I suspect if you tell a Honda Dealer Parts Department person the part name (above) they'll be able to get the right pieces for you.

I had the same thing happen on a 2007 Toyota Yaris and was able to buy and replace the weatherstrip easily. It's an easy job. I think the damage sort of sneaks up on you, as I washed the car regularly and never noticed a problem until one day the passenger side was broken off and sucked down alongside the window and the driver side was cracked and separating along the entire length of the window.

Good luck.

Good afternoon Drew,

Thank you for the information I will be calling my local Honda Parts Department and inquire about requisitioning these parts.

I forgot that I downloaded the Service Manual for this vehicle until you mentioned it on this thread.

Have a god weekend and thanks again.

You could probably save a lot of money grabbing these from a salvage yard, just about every Fit I see at pick n pull has this part and they’re typically in good condition. The stealership has tried to charge me an arm and a leg for small parts like this in the past. If you don’t want to go to a yard, then maybe get the part number from the dealership then check the price of the part on Hondapartsnow.com, typically their prices are reasonable. Hope this helps!

Just an FYI for anyone who needs to have these replaced, there is a backorder for PN:72910-TF0-003 and they do not have a date for when Honda will have them again.

I just learned of this a second ago when I called Honda to see when the parts will arrive and the Salesman informed me the wrong PN's were ordered last week.

Hi there,

I have the same issue and I am looking to replace the dry rotted weatherstrip from my 2010 Sport.
I'm having trouble trying to decipher if the part is Honda 72950-TF0-003 or Honda 72910-TF0-003? Or do both parts need to be purchased to replace the weatherstrip?

Links to the parts:

Thank you in advanced for the assistance.

This depends if your replacing the drivers side or passenger side. 72910 should be the Passenger side part number.

Thank you for the response. Yes, it's the rear door on the passenger side.

The diagram on Hondapartsnow, has #11( 72950-TF0-003) and #9 (72910-TF0-003) in the same region, so I have been trying to figure out which is the correct part to purchase to replace.

Sounds like #9 (72910-TF0-003) is for the rear passenger side, and #11 is for the rear driver side?

I noticed in another thread they used
72950-TF0-003 (Molding Assy., L. RR. Door)
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...rip-seals.html

Which is why I'm a bit confused which part I need.

On the part description the “L” indicates the driver side or left side; the other part had “R” instead.

Ah! Thank you so much! I was going crazy trying to figure out the difference.
I appreciate the help with clearing up my confusion and teaching me how to understand the part description correctly.
