Question

So now with the upgraded kit, is it more functional now without issues? Or should i just stick to my drums

i'll just restate my original position, unless you are tracking the car or endurance racing there is no functional reason to have rear discs on a Fit. You may like it for appearance, that depends on the brakes you use. Mine are custom from a UK Fit RS. They look weird.

In the end I regret putting discs on the rear of my fit. That said, the fastbrakes kit looks pretty cool.

In my opinion the Fastbrake kit is very functional now- especially with the upgrades he's made to the kit. In the earlier Gen 2 kit, Fastbrakes used the Gen 1 caliper adapters that actually didn't fit the Gen 2s- it aligned the calipers over the rotors too far to one side. The updated kit now uses a modified EP3 caliper bracket that better centers the calipers over the rotors. That added to the adapter he now provides that retains the original drum brake emergency brake cables, makes installation very easy. My emergency brakes work with no issues.

I have to say that while it was a bunch of work, I'm really happy with 4 wheel disks. Every time I look at the car I think about how good it looks.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point of OPs reason for wanting to ditch the drums. It's not looks or performance. It's paying to never have to touch the rube goldberg house of cards hiding under there. I just did mine and $700 is a fair price to pay to never have to deal with that bs again 😂

Yeah I loath working on drum brakes. I always wanted to be able to bolt on any of the standard 5x114 brakes that Honda makes for the front.

Drum brakes are simply lame. There's a reason they use them on the cheapest cars.

Did you DIY with a kit? If so what brand, what size rotors etc? How is the e-brake integrated? Besides, I grew up working on drum brakes. Never bothered me working on them.

I did not do a disk swap, just meant to say that next time I'd rather swap to disks than have to replace drum shoes again.

What about EX models?

I know this thread has been silent for some time, but I was very curious.
I do want rear brake discs (100% for aesthetics) and I’ve seen this thread and some others talking about conversion, how it’s not that easy, not that cheap or not that worth it, but then it crossed my mind:
What about the EX model? Those come with rear discs…
I don’t know if it’s the same worldwide, but here in Brazil there are 3 models, LX, LXL and EX. And the EX has rear brake discs.
Doesn’t that make the conversion easier?

Sure. If you can get OEM parts then it's an easy swap. In the US we never got rear disks on Fits.

It would, I beleive the rear trailing arm is different for the Disc vs. the drum setup.
I made my own kit many many years ago using the rotors and calipers off of a Honda FIT RS from japan. I had to fabricate the mounting bracket for the calipers to mount using the stock drum mounting locations. I think I used 1/4" plate which turned out to be very close for the caliper position. I had to weld a slim washer on top of the plate to get the calipers centered over the rotors.

I also used E brake cables from a civic but would not recommend as its a massive pain to route them with the gas tank and exhaust being directly in the way.
Thinks have changes so much with 3 printing and modeling that I think it would be much easier to fab the same thing today. I used cardboard templates calipers and far more patience than I posses now.

I used a CRZ rear suspension.

If I was to re-do it, I would have simply used the existing brake line routing. At the time I wanted the car to be symmetric so I opted to change the hose routing. Today I wouldn't do that. I'd just weld the brackets to the CRZ U beam, mod the brake lines on the U-beam leaving the fit body and hose routing as stock.
It's always easier the second time.

It's been a couple years. The mod was completely worth it. Every time I walk towards it and see the red calipers peeking out, I'm satisfied. I still want to engine swap it but, the right engine just hasn't fallen into my hands. I'm leaning toward L15B turbo because the K swap requires cutting into the body.

Yeah, the 1.5T's are tempting!

I put so much time into the L15A7 though, I think Im going to continue down the rabbit hole until I kill it at least.

Im running a modified Sprintex SC but, Im about to start working on adding a turbo as well and twincharge it!

Back in the day @DiamondStarMonsters used to post about compound charging and I have always been fascinated by that type of setup.

Im about to pull the engine anyways so figured its a good time to start.
I have some super sticky tires dropped in a Quaife mechanical LSD and upgraded Action stage 2 kevlar clutch.
Its just missing that top end power now.
