Need advice on visual tune up. Wanna make it less girly

Hello friends. I have recently purchased my first (!) car and it's a 2010 honda fit sport in Blue Raspberry color. I love it, it's been extremely well maintained and it honestly looks awesome. However, as some may have pointed out, I think the look sits right on the edge of being a girly car. That does not bother me too much, however since it's my very first car and I have some access to cheap parts from China, I will upgrade the exterior, interior either way, so I was hoping you could share your advice with regards to the visuals and what I can do. The sidegoal is to take a step back from femininity, but to maintain the charm of this beautiful color.

I would prefer to listen to your vision, as I am afraid with some money on the side and a huge selections of options I will end up creating a complete mess of the appearance. Right now I feel like it needs a surgically accurate minor intervention, but I can't quite decide what it is due to lack of experience. Maybe black rims or black door handles? I will tint the windows and maybe taillights.

Anyways, i would love to hear your thoughts and I'd appreciate your advice.
Cheers

That is tidewater blue, not blue raspberry.

Don’t tint tail lights or paint the door handles black.

If you like black wheels, get black wheels. If you like white or silver wheels, get those instead.

Don’t buy stuff just to buy stuff. Don’t buy car parts just to mask your insecurity. No car is inherently ‘girly.’

Only modify a car if you just like modifying cars. Modifying cars has never made someone a cool person (my cars are way cooler than me!)

Thanks for the correction on the color!

I don't cover up for anything, I'm actually quite happy with the way it looks, hence choosing it over a black car. The previous owner was a lady, even the carpets have flowers printed on them (this is just not something I vibe with, has nothing to do with insecurities)

Like I mentioned in OP, I will personalize it to my liking either way, but the scale and specifics of change as still uncertain, hence asking for help Some people have a great vision as to what could be added/changed to make a subtle difference that changes the overall aesthetics. I think those people are artists in a way, wish I was one of them

Gotcha, your phrasing just worried me a bit! Wanted to make sure you weren’t doing anything based on buttheads assigning things to cars and colors.

I’d lower the car, probably on Fortune Auto coilovers, pick up a set of 16x7 wheels in a gunmetalish (something like an Enkei PF09, I like a multi-spoke wheel for GE8), swap over to Fit Hybrid clear tail lights, and install a Tanabe Touring Medallion axle back exhaust (only if manual, automatic cars with aftermarket exhausts sound weird)

For the interior, I’d pick up a double din head unit with Apple Carplay, change the shift knob to something like a Buddy Club half metal/half delrin (manual only again), and pick up a set of either 2012/13 Sport mats with the blue trim or a set of Aries 3D liners for inclement weather protection of the carpet.

But that is how I’d do the car. My recommendation is to look around the forum and the facebook groups and see what cars you really like. Try to determine if there are styles that you gravitate to and if the styles vary greatly try to not take too much from too many styles at any one time. Car styling is all about knowing when to stop and knowing where to leave some things undone.

Thanks! I'll take a look at all your suggestions. Doing a lot of research at the same time too, because it's my first car and so far things you said don't ring too many bells haha
Mine's automatic. I see plenty of nice stereos with apple car play I can get from China. Two concerns: if I can change it to English and if I can install it myself. A fraction of the price though, we'll think about it

I appreciate that you shared!

LOVE the color! Window tint and new wheels will make a huge difference, as will a little lowering if you do not need the ride height. Please do not tint the tails, that is a safety issue. There are tons of replacement style tails, but that is a pretty subtle change compared to tint, wheels, and possibly coilovers (or just lowering springs).

And grats on the great first car! They are not even remotely fast, but handle great, are versatile, and reliable. Have fun!

Aside from what was mentioned I'd suggest ditching the rear wing and/or getting a shark fin antenna that's color matched.
slap on a sticker or two.

All good advice. Tidewater Blue has really grown on me in this age of grey and khaki cars.

Main issue is the base color. I think what you said; black handles is good, see if black mirrors would look good and black spoiler possibly using photoshop first as a mock-up. Possible HIDs for front as well.
And with regard to the conversation already rolling, I agree. It is a feminine color, regardless of people trying to forcefully get you to toe a social line. Stand by your convictions friend. It could definitely use a more MASCULINE spin. Good luck out there

Honda's generally in the past that had black parts such as black side mirrors, black door handles usually denoted a lower model. It is a trend auto manufactures are using again on their newer cars.. I don't know why they are doing that... they must be bored.

That color blue does not shout out girly.. its just sky blue. If it was a pink Honda Fit..I would question whether getting in the car or not.

If it were me before I start modifying the car I would first figure out how to fix that gash in the rear bumper cover and then give it a good wash and detailing. A clean and shiny stock car will always stand out better than a dirty / body damaged modified car.

I always thought.. blue is for boys and pink is for girls.. or maybe does that only apply to baby showers?? I guess in a LBGTQIA+ world all colors are equal genders.

this is a weird post. just really really weird.

colors are just colors. assigning different colors and opportunities by gender at birth is not a good thing. let people live.

That's a great shade of blue; I had never seen one up-close and in-person otherwise I might have kept searching for one just like it!

My Fit is silver so it is pretty much invisible in the sea of silver, white and black SUVs which populate our roads. I have two other, more manly cars so the Fit can stay how it is.
