100K maintenance
100K maintenance
I'd like to hear what maintenance people usually do around 100k. My 2013 Fit (automatic) got about 105k miles on it at the moment. Now would probably be a good time for new spark plugs, coil packs (optional?) and valve adjust. What other maintenance should I look into when the cowl is removed for access? After the valve adjust, is there any seal or gasket that should be replaced before everything goes back together? Thanks

I'll start. I'm sure others will chime in. The following should be considered recommendations, not commandments.
valve adjustment & replace valve cover gasket
spark plugs
oil & oil filter
engine air filter
cabin air filter
tire rotation
inspect brakes
inspect suspension
change out coolant
change out brake & clutch fluid
inspect serpentine belt
change out MT fluid (or whatever you AT guys have to do)
I've never had to replace a coil pack, but if you feel it's necessary, then have at it. Buy some nice, new, expensive, OEM ones, and you'll have no trouble.

So today I finally got everything done: new spark plugs, valve clearance adjusted, and new head cover gasket. For some reason the check engine light and VSA Off light were on after I turned the car on. I thought I had done something wrong, or forgot to plug something back in. But after a couple short drives, these indicator lights went off. I was worried for a little while there, but I guess everything should be back to normal now.
With the new spark plugs, the Fit should get a little better mpg now. For some time on the old plugs, I already noticed that the engine cranks a little bit longer before it turns over. So I think that was a sign they won't last much longer.
