09 fit sport front tire studs broke tire came off while driving!

so my front driver side tire came off while driving three of the four studs broke off, cross threaded. Well the studs have been replaced and my tire remounted now I’m having a scraping noise that’s not constantly present did they bend the brake shield or something? Also does anyone know what rubbers I need to have replaced? I know that there is a rubber boot and a rubber bushing maybe? Do I need to have my control arm replaced to replace the rubber boot? Anyone that can tell me what I need to get done any Info is appreciated! Thanks

If your wheel came off at any sort of speed there was almost certainly additional damage: brake rotor and dust shield, lower control arm and lower ball joint, possibly other suspension components bent or broken depending on your speed. If any of those bits are bent, warped, or otherwise damaged you could get weird scraping noises.

Did you have a shop replace the wheel studs? Was it the same shop that cross-threaded your original wheel studs or did you go someplace different?

Did they not mention any other damage? Seems like they should/would have noticed. I would advise a mechanical inspection to make sure you're safe. It's also possible that your wheel was damaged as it wobbled it's way off the hub, so you should get that checked as well.

Thanks for the info and answering your questions: the tire came off during stop and go fwy traffic at about 45 mph my nephew was driving @ the moment and I can attest he handled the situation pretty well better than if I were driving. Tire just came off and bounced on the now detached tire before hitting the ground with out the tire on it and he was luckily able to pull directly over so as not to do anymore damage. As far as I could tell it all looks fine but I am in no way a expert. I had a little neighborhood garage I used in the past replace the studs and remount my tire on a new rim and put it back on the car, no it was not them that cross treaded it I fear it was possibly a job done at home tho have no definitive answer yet. The garage did there version of inspecting the damage and had nothing to report. My nephew had my car another two weeks in which he had been driving to and from work then drove it to my house to drop it off. The drive to my house is a treacherous one you have to come up to grades as I live in the high desert one of the grades is a twisting turning mountain and the second one is pretty much straight up and steep in total it’s 22 miles from the start of the climb to the top. The rubbers are all shredded nothing looks bent but i can’t say for sure. I think I have answered all your questions.

I am looking for a garage now to take it to to have it inspected and repair any damage. I’m not trying to get ripped off, my dad was a mechanic all my life so I know a little bit not as much as i should that’s for sure!
along with the scraping noise which I think is the dust shied bent. Turning into a driveway it makes a big creaking noise followed by a pop sound probably because the rubbers are obliterated

When you say "rubbers" do you mean the bushings in the suspension or the boots around the ball joints? If either are damaged you will definitely get weird creaking and popping because your suspension is not working correctly (or safely).

If you have damage that can be truly be characterized as "obliterated" you need to have those parts repaired/replaced immediately. I would not be driving the car in this condition because of the risk of additional damage (not to mention risking your life as well as the safety of others on the road), but I suppose if it was driven for two weeks after the original incident it can't get much worse. You might think twice about using the garage that deemed the car OK if you really have "obliterated" suspension components.

yep that’s a pretty good description. Since I got it it has been parked looking for a garage now to take it to.

I recently hit a very rough patch of road & got a constant metal grinding noise in the front-end. Tire shop said bushings were dry-rotted & when I hit the rough spot, pieces of the bushing came off.

Cost was $82.50 each for 2 "Import Direct Chassis Stabilizer Bar Link Kits" plus $73.50 labor, total cost = $238.50. Considering the age & miles on my car, we were happy with that. They said we really should've had this done when we had the struts replaced a year ago.
