Glove Compartment Latch: Broken

(Sorry if I have posted in the wrong section, I'm new here.)
We have a 2013 Fit, and the latch broke off. I really want to open it up and find the Radio code as well. Can I put a flexible wire in and pop it open?

I read your question but am having a problem visualizing it. Did the round knob that opens the bottom glove box totally break off and is missing? Theupper glove box, or whatever it's called, uses a different latch than the lower one.

If you have a pic you can attach, it would help. If you're talking about the bottom box, and the knob is missing, can you take a small flat bladed screwdriver and insert it in the center of where the knob was located and turn it left or right to simulate the method the knob used to open it?

FYI- If you call your local Honda dealer parts department and give them your vin number, they will probably give you the security number for your radio over the phone. If they won't give it over the phone, PM me and I'll see what I can do. The dealer knows the Fit radios were pretty much not high end radios that are stolen.

it's the handle. It broke straight off . I don't have a picture right now. So now there's a hole in the center where the handle once was.
Our code and Manuel is stuck in this bottom compartment. We really don't want to go to the dealership just yet. Anyway thanks 👍

I couldn't find a specfic Youtube video fix for the Fit, but there are a number of videos there for other Honda models. Do a search for 2013 Honda Fit glovebox broken mechanism. Watch some of the videos and maybe you'll come up with another model Honda that's similar to the Fit for a solution. I found the attached video for a '07-'10 Odyssey for referance:

If you come up with a workable solution, the Fit community can benefit from you posting here how you solved the problem.

Thanks for the video it was very helpful. i have not attempted to pry it open like so.
But first we need to order a new latch or compartment box first. And go from there.

Latch

Sounds like a plan. Have the new one before you break the old more when removing it!
