Hey ya'll. Its embarassing enough to be posting this otherwise elementary issue but i have tried e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g to install the replacement glass into the housing as illustrated. What the heck??? How could it be so complicated?? Dont know but i must be "missing something".
I could go on for ever trying to align the hooks on top and snaps at the bottom but i am also concerned about breaking-off those plastic hooks on top.
As ever you guys's advice is cheerfully accepted. Cheers.
Thats what irks me..it looks so simple to do..been struggling with it for a few days now, and worried i might break those plastic hooks if i push to hard, dont really know what to do at this point. I watched a couple YT clips as well..many only show you after they've installed it, never mentioning how long they had to struggle to get it in.
Those hooks really do look like they should have stuck out a little bit more so you could easily snap them into the appropriate holes..i'll keep at it!
Cheers
I replaced mine several years ago. I had the same problem that you are having, and finally just gave it a lot of pressure and the mirror snapped right in.
I looked at my notes (from 2016 is when I did mine) and here is what I wrote:
"...when I folded it down, it wasn't going into the tabs. I pushed on it hard, but didn't want to snap anything. Put some oil on it, no help. Took it all off again, including the white piece then used the Dremel to file off the round pieces on the white piece that snap into the tabs. Just did a lttle bit at a time, then I would try to see how much pressure I needed. Got it right eventually then put the white piece back in, lined up the hinges and folded it closed. I watched a You Tube video later that night, and he just forced the mirror assembly into the tabs. I didn't want to push that hard. Anyway, it's on (finally) and it was nice driving home with a full size mirror..."
