2009 Honda Fit Sport maintenance
2009 Honda Fit Sport maintenance
Have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport, original owner with 138,000 miles.
Have a cylinder #4 misfire and was going to do the following stuff myself (tired of getting fleeced by the local dealer shop for repairs!)
I have quite a bit of auto/motorcycle repair experience, so I'm ready to tackle it.
Using Rock Auto, I will be ordering 4 Denso coils, correct NGK plugs so that should correct the probable loose plug and/or bad coil issue. After a lot of research, it seems that 13lbs
spark plug torque is inadeqaute and Honda now recommneds 20 with no anti seize.
While I'm in there I will replace the external tensioner and belt and adjust the valves.
Any experience with aftermarket tensioners, belts or intake gasket stuff? I would buy OEM Honda, but they their prices are insane compared to Rock Auto!
As always, I'm looking more for actual aftermarket part experiences and not just opinions
Thanks in advance, John

Funny thing,, about the plugs,, Spark plug makers have had instructions in the main box since I was 8 putting a new plug in my honda min trail. (I'm 62 now.)
1. clean plug hole with a soft plastic brush.(Little carb cleaner helps. )
2. apply a mall amount of oil to the plug threads ONLY not the washer.
3. spin plug in finger tight, then using wrench turn 1/3 turn.
I've been doing it this way my whole life,, if you do it with a torque wrench it clicks at 18-20 lb's at the 1/3 rotation.
the cone style plugs take 1/2 turn IIRC.. I also use conductive never seize on the first thread or two applied with
a q-tip (It does not take much to prevent the steel plug from gauling to the aluminum heads.
Cheers
