Valve Adjustment Needed?
Valve Adjustment Needed?
Hi, recently got an 09 Fit and tried my hand at a valve adjustment (first time) and I'm not sure if this sound is expected or not? Is it normal or are the valves too loose?
Thanks in advance

@muki Solid lifter engine valve gaps take into account thermal expansion. They will always be noisier when cold than when hot. It is by design. I don't know that I could judge by a video. Especially, without a cold vs hot comparison. When I say hot, I am referring to NOT (normal operating temperature) which could take several minutes of driving depending on ambient air temp, speed, revs, etc. There should be a distinct difference in sound while driving with a window down once they have fully expanded with heat (especially, under load.) Too loose is safer for the engine than too tight. They are still considered to be a noisy engine by many even when adjusted properly.
Best thing you can do for the fit engines is keep the valves adjusted, all the honda engines up to about 1996 Needed a 12K mile valve adjustment to run well.
The Fit engine has a striking resemblance tothe old CVCC engines and they would get angry if neglected. Both my fits immediatly got better mileage after valve adjustment.
