Anyone tried to fit a 26R battery? (vs. 51R, which I already use)

Hello,
I am wondering if someone here has used a 26R battery in lieu of the regular 151R battery? I have been using the 51R for about 10 years and need to replace it again and saw that 26R are shorter in length, shorter in height, but wider and I am not sure it would fit (need 7"). Has anyone tried to fit a 26R?
Thanks.

Other threads on the forums with that information. But since the 51R fits right now and delivered correct performance for 10 years, why change to something else? I don't see the point.

The 26R battery is significantly cheaper, has more CCA and will likely last longer.

I've been running the 26R battery in my car for about 7-8 years. I did the research and found the dimensions of the 26R does in fact fit simply by removing the original Fit metal battery box from the car, grinding the high spots on the Fit battery tray flat and then buying a '06 '11 Hyundai Accent 1.6 liter plastic battery tray liner and bolting the two together The Accent used the 26R battery as a stock application. The rest of the modifications are then pretty common sense/ straight forward. The only other glitch is the positive battery post comes out in a slightly inward position on the battery case and the Fit positive battery cable has to be slightly modified to fit. Since my original battery modification to the 26R battery I've had zero problems with it. This is the battery Honda should have originally installed in the Fits!
